Southern New Mexico University Teams advance to the NCAA regional tournaments

All four of the collegiate tennis teams within the district have won their conferences and advanced to NCAA regionals. This does not happen very often. How many USTA districts can make such a claim, ever!

The WNMU men and women team each won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference decisively with 5-0 records. Unfortunately, the women were eliminated in the NCAA Div. 2 South Central Regional tournament on Saturday at San Antonio.

However, The WNMU Mustangs, Silver City, are currently hosting the South Central Regional NCAA Div. 2 Men's tennis tournament.

The WNMU men play a semi-final match at 11 AM against St Edwards of Austin.

Separately, the NMSU Ladies and Men tennis teams each won the WAC championship and advanced to the NCAA Regional competition.

The NMSU ladies blew the completion away winning both WAC conference matches 4-0. The ladies play Texas Tech Friday, May 8 at 4 PM at Lubbock, TX in the regional NCAA tournament.

The men endured to win the WAC tournament finals 4-3 to clinch the conference tournament championship. The men play Oklahoma Friday, May 8 at 3 PM at Norman, OK in the regional NCAA tournament.
